The fake Windows repair scam
The "Windows repair" virus aka Windows recover virus, is a clone of those fake system optimization softwares. This Windows repair fake program is also as deceitful. It causes your computer to flash "Windows repair" malware - generated popups so you will get the so called full version of the Windowsrepair program that it promotes. Do not be deceived by this windows repair popup. Variations of this malware include the Windows 7 repair and Windows XP Repair.

An example of the malicious alerts it flashes is one that promotes the purchase of windows repair advance module license:

Windows Repair Activation
Advanced module activation required to fix detected errors and performance issues. Please purchase Advanced Module license to activate this software and enable all features.

Be warned that this Windows repair defrag cannot optimize efficiency of your computer. This program is aptly called the Windows repair malware.

How to get rid of the Windows repair virus:

* Reboot your computer in Safe mode with networking. Do this by restarting your PC and pressing the F8 key after hearing your computer beep on startup. Once the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, select Safe mode with networking and then press ENTER.

* Download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware.
* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a check-mark is placed next to the following:

Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
Launch Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware

* Click Finish.
* If an update is found, Malbytes anti malware will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. Reboot your computer if prompted.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
