Credit Card Refund for Fake Antivirus

How to refund fake antivirus purchase: This article provides a step by step guide on how to request for a credit card refund and how to get your money back if you have purchased a fake antivirus.

Most victims who have fallen prey to fake antivirus scams have paid for the bogus software via credit card only to realize later that the activation codes, license keys or "upgrades" they have paid for are actually a hoax. To date, hundreds, if not thousands have already been victimized by fake antiviruses such as the AntiPrivacy, SearchGuard, Scanzero, Disk Doctor, Qscan and the RBN Encryptor.

While one can easily request for a refund from many merchants online, getting a refund for a fake software you have bought is tricky particularly because there is no way to contact the company that sold the rogue software. Some victims also realize that posted addresses or contact information online are bogus and many have reported not receiving a word after "contacting" the company.

In such cases, how do you get a refund for a fake software that you have bought? The good news is that credit card holders can dispute for a billing error which include charges for goods not received.

While this cannot guarantee that you will get your money back, you might want to do the following as suggested by this wiki entry:

1. Identify the details of the fraudulent charges in your credit card statement.

2. Using the "billing inquiries" address on your credit card statement, mail a written notice to your credit card company to dispute the fraudulent charge and request a refund. Your bank or credit card issuer should receive your written notice within sixty days of the statement date on the account statement that first contained the billing error.Your credit card issuer should acknowledge the dispute within thirty days.

3. Contact your credit card issuer if you have not received either a refund or a letter explaining why there's no billing error in your account.

4. If your credit card company responds informing you there was no error or fraudulent charge in your account, you can request copies of documentation supporting the validity of the disputed items.

If you have successfully refunded your money after you have bought a fake antivirus, we will be glad to know the steps you have taken to get your money back. Please leave your comment below. Thank you.
