Most Prevalent of New Computer Worms can Modify Web Pages

In its April 2008 internet security threat report, Symantec corporation, the company behind symantec norton ghost and other symantec norton security products, named the top ten new malicious codes that pose threat to computer users. These top ten malicious codes were detected during the last half of 2007 and the most widely reported of these new malicious codes family is a computer worm that can modify web pages.

The computer worm called Invadesys is spread through removable drives and terminates certain processes in the compromised computer. The worm can also delete .avi and .mpg files. The most notable notoriety of the invadesys, however, is its ability to modify web pages. This can happen when copies of a web page is stored in an infected local drive and these infected webpages are uploaded into the user's hosting account.

The invadesys worm will add its own code into the web page and execute its code into the computer of visiting users thereby passing the malicious code from the infected webpages to another computer system. Logged in admin users of infected sites will see the message "You are Admin!!! Your Computer Will Not Be Infected!!!".

Malicious codes are spywares, worm, trojan and viruses that attack and pose security threats to computer systems. Attacks from these computer threats have led to computer users searching for symantec norton anti virus free download, symantec online scan and symantec antivirus free tools.
