Facebook Abuse Department Change Password Email Scam

A growing number of scammers are taking advantage of the popularity of the social networking site Facebook to scam and victimize naive users or phish crucial personal information from non suspecting Facebook users. Cybercriminals, for example, have been distributing a fake Facebook Abuse Department Change Password email.


Fake or Not? Many phishing sites that are promoted via fake facebook emails can look like Facebook in an attempt to make people enter crucial information such as passwords.


If you have received such email, make sure to mark it as spam. Many fake Facebook spam emails are not only unnecessary, they can also pose security risks. Spam emails may contain links or attachments that when click, install malicious files such as trojan into your computer. Others may also provide or redirect to links or sites that may look like Facebook but are actually third party pages that were created to phish personal information from Facebook users.

What to Do when you received a fake Facebook Abuse Department change password email
1. Do not click on any link or download any attachment. Betterstill and if you can, do not open the email.
2. Mark the email as spam.
3. Tell your friends to do the same and warn them about this email spam.
